It is seven years since movies featured on the big screen and the gates finally closed at the Tivoli Drive-In Theatre in Coal Road at Chuwar, but now the old Ipswich icon is about to burst into life again as a new and exciting community facility.
Rivers of Life Christian Church acquired the property in late 2003 and over the past three and a half years volunteers and church members have been actively redeveloping it for use as a church and community centre.

Renamed the “Tivoli Miracle Centre”, The first stage of the redevelopment includes a new 300 seat worship centre and community hall; an 80 seat capacity renovated Kiosk and Cafe building; an exciting new children’s playground area and a sports field for local young people to enjoy an informal game or two.

“The opening of this new $850,000, debt-free development is exciting evidence that ‘nothing is impossible with God’ ” said Pastor Fred Muys, of Rivers of Life Christian Church (now Tivoli Miracle Centre).

“We are not a large congregation, but as we have progressively worked towards the completion of the vision, God has provided and we have been blessed with the money needed to ‘pay the bills’.

“We know that God wants us to use these facilities to bless Ipswich: socially – as a venue for the community and recreational events; economically – as a venue for conferences and other events which will attract visitors to the city and help create new jobs and income opportunities; and spiritually – as a place where people worship together and come to experience the reality of having a personal relationship with a miracle-working God in their own lives,” said Pastor Muys.
